Getting to Vancouver
Getting to English Bay
You are encouraged to walk, cycle, carpool or use public transportation as much as possible.
Public Transportation
Translink will be offering extra transit services for the bus, SkyTrain, Seabus, West Coast Express and West Vancouver Blue Bus. Sky Train rush hour service will continue until queues have diminished.
Driving
- If you plan to drive, leave plenty of time to find parking and get to a good viewing spot. Traffic may be redirected in the Kitsilano and West End areas. If you can, carpool with friends and neighbours.
- Use extra care and watch out for cyclists and pedestrians. Please see the road closures map for access restrictions in the West End and Kits Point.
- Motorists are NOT permitted to stop on any city bridge to view the fireworks, as it is a serious safety and traffic flow concern.
Cycling and Walking
- Use extra caution due to the increased traffic and road closures.
- Pedestrians are encouraged to wear light-coloured or reflective clothing.
- Cyclists should be equipped for night-time riding. Lock up your bike or don’t leave it unattended. For the safety of other viewers, do not lie your bike on the ground – stand it upright
Boating
Navigating at night can be challenging, especially when over 1,000 boats will be on English Bay. Read our boating safety tips, courtesy of the Canadian Coast Guard.
